2021-2022 Undergraduate Public Policy Intern

The Undergraduate Urban Policy Internship is designed for driven undergraduate students at the University of Texas at Dallas who have the skills, values, and motivation to become policy experts and leaders. We are looking for six (6) students who have the desire and capacity to enrich their academic and professional experience by engaging in hands-on learning with the Institute for Urban Policy Research (IUPR). Interns will have the opportunity to see firsthand how public policy impacts communities and work on project-based programs with researchers, practitioners, and policymakers on cross-discipline solutions on today’s most pressing issues. The internship provides an opportunity to spend one semester (10-12 hours a week) working with IUPR staff and clients while earning academic credit hours and receiving a stipend of $12 an hour.
Eligibility
- Pursuing a University of Texas at Dallas undergraduate degree and in good academic standing
- Willing to fully participate in a rigorous semester-long program including one semester of course-work
- Welcoming opportunities to interact with and learn from others with different backgrounds or perspectives.
Process
Candidates will be assessed using their application submissions, recommendations, and essays. Select candidates will be invited to participate in final interviews. Finalists will be notified in late December. Interviews will take place remotely during the first part of January, and the internship will begin in the second week of Spring Semester, 2021.
